"For a child was born to us, a son was given to us; and the government shall be upon his shoulders; and his name shall be: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."

Isaiah 9:6

A child was born to us.... Isaiah concludes the description of the coming age of peace with a remarkable prophecy about the great Prince of Peace. Peace will never be achieved in this world through human efforts. in describing the coming King, who will reign in righteousness and holiness, Isaiah employs terms that cannot belong to any earthly government. There is, of course, only one person in the entire universe to whom this description can apply: Christ. Nowhere else in the Bible is such an exalted idea, such beauty of expression, such intensity of feeling, in the description of the Savior and King to come. The government. Christ will rule over all Heaven and Earth (see Dan 2:44, 45; Matt 25:31; 28:18; Luke 1:32, 33; 1 Cor 15:25, cf. Ps 110:1; Phil 2:10 ; Rev 11:15). Wonderful Counselor. See Is 11:2, 3; 25:1; 28:29. This name encapsulates the idea of wisdom, kindness, and thoughtfulness, a name that would evoke worship and praise from all beings in heaven, on earth, and throughout the universe (see Phil 2:9-11; Rev 5:12, 13). Father of Eternity. Just as God the Father is eternal, so is Christ. Isaiah calls him Father because He is the Father of all mankind in a special way, as Creator of mankind and the world (John 1:3; Eph 3:9; Col 1:16; Heb 1:2; cf. Gen 1:26). Prince of Peace. See Zech 9:9, 10; Eph 2:14. Peace only exists where there is righteousness (Isa 32:17, 18), and Jesus is the righteous king (Jer 23:5, 6; 33:15, 16), who imputes and bestows His own righteousness on human beings. He came into the world to bring peace (Luke 2:14; John 14:27; see also Phil 4:7).

PRAYER: Dear Father, thank you for your purpose over my life and over all of humanity, your government is perfect, in front of your presence we are more than conquerors. thank you for knowing that with you we will have an eternity before you, in your presence . I what I pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
